Sixty percent of the new Bangkok airport link is completed. But this information comes from the SRT State Railway of Thailand and can't be trusted.SRT also reveals that the airport link system is expected to be completed around November, 5th 2007, or within 990 days after the construction contract has taken effect.SRT said that the contractor earlier requested the State Railway of Thailand to extend the construction contract by 552 days while the latter thought that a further 398 days will be enough to complete the construction. And if the contract is not respected, the contractor will have to pay 3 million baht a day if the construction is delayed, but the rail link has not yet been declared as delayed...Most of the trains that passengers will ride to go from Bangkok airport to downtown BTS and MRT are also ready and must be shipped to Thailand before the end of the year 2007.

Read more »Cost to repair damages at Suvarnabhumi airport will be huge and is not covered by insurances.AOT Airport of Thailand will have to meet the expense to fix runways and taxiways at Suvarnabhumi Bangkok airport because the operator has no property insurance for the runways and taxiways, wrongly thinking that the contractor's insurance would provide enough coverage, and also because AOT couldn't afford the twenty million baht price to pay for more property insurance.AOT was wrong because the contractor's insurance only covers damage resulting from construction, and not for other reasons, as the excess of underground water, a point that should be difficult to forget when you build an airport on the swamps. The cracked areas at Suvarnabhumi airport cover about 78000 sqm and repair costs are estimated at 300 million baht at least, in case the operation would be possible.Apart from partial property insurance and the contractor's insurance, AOT Suvarnabhumi airport has 3rd party insurance for its overall compound, but it also doesn't cover runways and taxiways.AOT will also hire experts from the International Civil Aviation Organization to study both single and dual airport concepts for Bangkok, and decide to keep Don Muang airport opened as a second airport, or not.
